AIRDOOR

AirDoor is a revolutionary alternative to traditional air curtains

It employs a three-sided air curtain with active, targeted airflow to enhance interior comfort and boost the building’s energy efficiency. Situated directly inside the entrance, it generates a plume of air to reduce weather-related infiltration, such as wind (temperature & humidity disruption), dust, pollution and wind-driven rain (slippery floors). This enables retailers to better utilise the front-of-store area and helps food display equipment run more efficiently. While heated/cooled air curtains cost you money, AirDoor delivers a positive ROI.

AirDoor: Key Reasons for Advanced Air Curtain Tech

Keep the outside air outside

Suitable for any building entrance or exit, and in particular:

AIRDOOR BENEFITS

ENERGY & Operational savings

Increased useable space by negating the need for draught lobbies

Reduction in airborne particles such as dust and exhaust fumes to create a healthier environment for staff and visitors
Up to 31% reduction in annual gas use for a mid-sized supermarket

Up to 54% reduction in cold-weather electricity use for a boutique retail store
Payback of less than 3 years versus a conventional electric heated curtain

Reduce heat pump sizing by up to a third, and lower expenditure on HVAC plant
Massively reduced infiltration of hot and humid air, providing better comfort and far less condensation

Diagram explaining how the Wirth Research AirDoor works, showing variable-speed fans creating an air barrier from internal store air to block external air, controlled by pressure and temperature sensors.
Illustration showing how wind, influenced by surrounding buildings, drives cold air into a supermarket through its open entrance, demonstrating the problem the AirDoor solves.
Diagram illustrating the stack effect in a supermarket, where heated air rises and escapes, pulling cold outside air in through lower-level entrances.

Diagram showing the ineffectiveness of a traditional heated air curtain, with a thermal graph illustrating how it fails to stop cold air from entering a building.
Diagram illustrating how traditional heated air curtains waste energy, showing heated air being blown out of the entrance even in no-wind conditions, with a thermal graph detailing the 'Lost heat energy'.
"Diagram showing how the Wirth Research AirDoor works, with sensors detecting incoming wind and stack effect, and creating an invisible barrier that directs unwanted air away from a supermarket entrance.
Diagram illustrating the effectiveness of the Wirth Research AirDoor, which stops wind infiltration to improve building comfort. It has no heating element for lower power consumption, and an inset thermal graph shows a clean, effective barrier between warm inside and cold outside air.
