About WIRTH

Achievements

Wirth is honoured to be nominated for the Oxford Climate Awards in the Innovation in Climate Action category. This recognition highlights our commitment to energy-saving solutions, including the AirDoor air curtain and EcoBlade. Since pivoting our business from pinnacle motorsport to the supply of high-tech, innovative, energy-saving solutions to the retail and commercial buildings sectors, we’ve saved our customers over 600 GWh of energy and close to 300,000 tonnes of CO2. Our technologies have been installed in many supermarkets across the region, strengthening our ties to Oxfordshire, where we’ve been based for almost 20 years.

BWG Foods combined Wirth’s patented TrueChill and ClimateFlow technologies to deliver ground-breaking total store energy savings. Furthermore, and in contrast to refrigerated cabinets with doors, the TrueChill cabinets saw no reduction in impulse sales. ClimateFlow removed the need for traditional heating and air conditioning by repurposing otherwise wasted cold air to cool the store during the summer, and by utilising hot air that would otherwise be expelled into the atmosphere to heat the store during the winter. This resulted in a 10-fold reduction in annual store HVAC consumption compared to using traditional HVAC systems, while also improving in-store air quality.

AirDoor has been shortlisted in the Physical Technology of the Year – Heating and Cooling category.
