our Project - PEDESTRIAN WIND MICROCLIMATE

VICTORIA HOUSE

Victoria House - Manchester - Pedestrian Wind Microclimate

Ensuring the suitability of design for a key building within the Portugal Street East masterplan within the wider HS2 Manchester Piccadilly Regeneration plans.

Sitting in the centre of a group of large developments, Victoria House is a 25 storey tower, with the common wind environment challenges of a tall building. These issues were made acceptable over an iterative design process through a variety of architectural interventions at both ground and terrace levels.

There were a number of cumulative schemes to test for this building, leading to two different wind scenarios to consider, including the striking design of the neighbouring Leonardo Hotel, which Wirth also conducted the wind assessment for.
